| Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 8:00 pm Come celebrate the Summer Solstice with Finvarra's Wren at the ARK 316 S. Main, Ann Arbor MI We are so excited to be returning to the ARK. Last time we played there, sound man John Kilar said to himself: "What the heck, let's record these guys" At the end of the evening he handed us a cd. His live mix was so good, we were able to produce "Dancing Mad in the Midnight Air" From the raw tracks! Making an album was never this easy. We're hoping to have at least as much fun again on Saturday, June 22! Jim says: "I have a lot of history with the ARK. Opened for Christy Moore the first time he played the old house on Hill Street. Opened for Doc Watson and backed up Tom Paxton at the warehouse location at Main and Packard...I feel like I sort of grew up there...and Finvarra's Wren has grown into the band we are today thanks to wonderful venues such as the ARK!" You can Purchase tickets in advance or at the door on the evening of the show. Hope to see you there! Wanna see cool videos of F.W.? Visit the "Wrenheads Channel". Click image below. Steeped in the Living Tradition Finvarra's Wren is one of North America's most exciting
Irish quartets. "Making
the kind of music you'd only hear on the west coast of Ireland", this
Detroit, Michigan based band has an intense dedication to their instruments
and to Irish music. As a family based group, Finvarra's Wren is capable
of playing with a tightness and effortlessness that often evades other
ensembles. Their performances have been described as "a swirl of
musical tradition and performance energy". Finvarra's Wren has performed
at many of North America's top music festivals and venues including
the Austin Texas Celtic Festival, Dayton Ohio Celtic Festival, Kennedy
Center, Washington DC, Goderich Ontario Celtic Festival, Saline
MI Celtic Fest, Baltimore Maryland Irish Fest, Celtic Fest Mississippi
and Ann Arbor's prestigious Ark where they recently recorded their live
album, "Dancing Mad in the Midnight Air". Mississippi Celtic Festival Director Don Penzien says: "Finvarra’s Wren unequivocally ranks in topmost echelon of American bands performing Irish traditional music today. With expert musicianship from every quarter, the band’s imaginative interpretations of tunes and songs are wholly true to the Irish tradition." Contact us Tweet Tweet... Follow us on Twitter! |
